Google’s AI startup DeepMind is building a new team of AI researchers to develop “global models” to simulate physical environments. Tim Brooks, a former Sora project manager who joined DeepMind a few months ago, will lead the initiative.
World modeling is a relatively new idea in AI that is used for various purposes.

“DeepMind has ambitious plans to build generative models of the world,” Brooks’ team announced in a post on X. Brooks posted two job postings for engineers and scientists to help advance AI’s world models to simulate real-world scenarios by solving problems related to large-scale training and collecting training data and how to integrate them into large-scale language models.
